Being-with
'What is' Through Art
My Masters thesis
Uncertainty, Nothingness, Beingness sought to bring awareness
to the uncertain nature of life, and consider, both from a heuristic
and theoretical perspective, the ramifications of realizing this truth
within the context of a deterministic cultural perspective tied to
the illusion of certainty and security. The thesis incorporated practical
research into the quality and nature of beingness as a vehicle for
describing a way to be with uncertainty through total attentiveness
to the present moment, and the phenomenological 'what is' of its contents.
Accompanying the written thesis was a production piece. For each of
twenty consecutive days in July 2004, I created a work on paperno
one piece taking more than an hour, and all a direct expression of
the present moment. Below are six examples from this series.
